The Pershore Plum was once so famous that it had a Great Western Railway steam train named after it. However, this train was out of service from 1947 after covering nearly 1.5 million miles in service.

To celebrate this humble fruit and its past GWSR ran a special Pershore Plum Service on 18 August departing from Broadway and travelling to Cheltenham racecourse. This event was organised as part of the festival and included our special plum characters including Queen Victoria, the Plum Posse, Prunella and Eggbert!
