Great Comberton Flower Show!
Rosie Jones (Plum Princess 2019) In August, my attendants and I went to Great Comberton Flower Show to judge the dogs with the waggiest tail. We went in an old fashioned car call Rosie (which is my name) it was a bit bumpy but very fun. When we got there it was boiling hot (poor Prunella and Eggbert) we had an amazing time plate smashing, eating ice cream, meeting the dogs and judging the best old-fashioned car which was a lovely maroon one. AS we came closer to the end of our duties, I went back to Pershore in Rosie with my attendants. Every Saturday in August! Every Saturday in August my attendants and I were outside Asda giving out leaflets to the public, and going around the shops giving them out too. I loved it, it was a good time to get to know my attendants better. I loved being Plum Princess - it was the time of my life. Sat 7th September
Emily Rose Mathias (Plum Princess 2018) Sorry guys, I haven’t written a blog in ages, I’ve just been letting everything sink in. Now everyone’s saying it’s all over, but there are still a few things left to come like the Plum Bikeaway, and we do have a float in the Carnival. So there probably will be more blogs. THURSDAY EVENING: (Bike Nite) I’m so excited, I’ve never been on a motorbike before… We’ve now been in the Angel for half an hour will the rain ever stop…?! WOW! That. Was. AWESOME!!!! We even had a Police Escort!! I wanted to do it again but then it started raining!!! Watch a video of us on YouTube @ Pershore Plum festival Bike Nite 2018. SATURDAY: (Plum Festival Weekend) Today we went to Great Comberton Show, and we judged the dog with the waggiest tail, and the best dressed stall. For your interest, the theme was On the Farm. SUNDAY: (Plum Festival Weekend) RAIN! RAIN! RAIN! It has been raining all day, and most people have left… But we’re still here, all snug + cosy in Plum Festival H.Q. (a caravan). We’re now going to do the Plum Pedal Push. We’re now in the Abbey, for the Teddy Praise Service, and it’s 3 o’clock. It’s been a lovely day, and I cannot wait for tomorrow…! MONDAY: (Plum Festival!!!!!) Hooray!! The big day has finally arrived! We’re going in a purple open top car, up the high street, and going on the Whistlers balcony, and we’re going to meet Mark Stinchcombe (the winner of MasterChef), and, and, and… It’s almost time for me to go now, but Angela wants me to do one last thing, collect money for the Plumfestival. And do you know how much money I raised…?! £49.39!!! isn’t that AWESOME!!!! My highlight of the summer was Bike Nite, because the feeling was so exhilarating. Also, I would like to say a HUGE thank you to the following: ANGELA (the Boss of Plums) ALAN (the Plum Master) AMY (Plumbassador) ANDREW WICKHAMFORD FARM – BUTCHERS (for giving us free plum sausages) BALLOON MAN (for letting us wind him up / giving us free balloons) COLIN (for giving us free plums) DAVE KATHY (for putting so much effort into Bike Nite) THE MERCHANDISE STALL QUEEN VICTORIA THANK YOU AGAIN! Bye everyone see you all soon Love, Em |

I am SO glad I signed up to be Plum Princess! The Races were incredible, we even got to go on T.V! We met Shefali Oza a Midlands Today weather reporter (your parents might know her!) and gave out plums and programmes. Today was also fun! It was the first Plum Alley (outside ASDA). And I am so, SO, SO excited for next Saturday because it’s the 1st ever national Plum Day, and Plum Alley!!
SO, MAKE SURE YOU ARE OUTSIDE ASDA AT 10:30 NEXT SATURDAY!
Bye for now,
Emily Mathias

I think every girl aged 8-11 - tomboy, girly-girl, or both - should apply to be Plum Princess. The judges had a tough decision this year, and every girl there, (all six) could’ve got it. I am very proud to be Plum Princess and my attendants (Gracie + Jessica) are lovely. I am looking forward to my first event, the Races at Worcester racecourse on Tuesday 31st July.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my year as the Plum Festival Princess – It has given me a lot of confidence and I have enjoyed the many different experiences the year brings.
I have met some lovely people and attended so many events ranging from the evening horse race meeting at Worcester, The Plum Festival Bike Nite,, the Confetti fields, plum coach tours, the plum praise service, the Plum Plodder 10K race, and the Christmas raffle event to name just a few. I have also planted plum trees at my school and in the Vale Landscape Heritage Trust orchard.
I loved being able to dress up in my lovely cloak, sash and tiara and being able to walk around Pershore and the Plum Festival. I am very proud of my town and have loved sharing these experiences with all the other girls – we have become great friends and will continue to keep in touch with each other. One of my favourite activities was picking plums in the Abbey Orchard.
I would encourage all girls aged between 8 and 11 to apply to be the Plum Festival Princess – everyone on the Committee is lovely and it is definitely a year that I will remember for the rest of my life….
