11th, 18th & 25th August 2011
Celebrating the fruit that made Pershore so famous – don’t miss these exciting guided coach tours. Plum Guides will accompany every tour and you can be sure they will produce the ‘Plum Goods’ for your entertainment throughout the day.
Your guided plum tour will begin at the Evesham Country Park where you will have time to enjoy some serious retail therapy or perhaps morning coffee in the Apple Barn Restaurant before taking a steam train ride (included in your ticket price) through plum orchards on the delightful Evesham Vale Light Railway.
After leaving the Country Park, you will travel to a traditional farm shop on the outskirts of Evesham where you can experience the true taste of the countryside with everything plummy!!
After a delightful journey around the south side of Bredon Hill travelling through Beckford, Conderton, Overbury, Bredon, Eckington and The Combertons, you will arrive in the picturesque historic Georgian town of Pershore located on the banks of Shakespeares’ River Avon.
With a wealth of independent shops and a unique covered retail market selling a vast range of locally produced “plum” goods, the town is an ideal place for lunch on your journey around the Vale.
When departing from Pershore, you will have a tour around the Lenches – a group of villages famous for their connection with the Blossom Trail and also home to a 70 acre orchard which is now owned and lovingly cared for by the Vale Heritage Landscape Trust; a group of volunteers whose aim is to protect and preserve pockets of important and beautiful pieces of land in the area. When you arrive at Hipton Hill you will be met by representatives of the Trust, you will have the opportunity to walk through the orchards; you can pick your own plums or just buy those already harvested; you will also view the Plum Heritage exhibition.
After an entertaining and inspiring visit to plum orchards you will start your journey home – have had a Plum Day Out!!!!
